Finding Calm in the Chaos: When Life Feels Unfinished

Ever feel like you just can't get on top of life? 🌪️ From mountains of laundry to the nightmare of a car break-in and stolen passports, I’m sharing a very raw look at my "frazzled" Monday. Here’s how I’m using Reiki to find perspective when everything feels unfinished. (Hint: It’s okay if you aren’t "done" yet!)

I walked into my house a few days ago after being away, and I was immediately smacked in the face by real life.

There was a pile of dirty laundry so high you needed hiking boots to get to the top. My email inbox was exploding with speaking requests, and my kitchen counter looked well it was messy as he kid had come home to babysit the dog who by the way was by her dish looking for fresh water!

I walked into my home thinking: Why can I get on top of my life? You ever feel like that?

The Monday Morning "Damn" Moment

I thought I could grab a little sanity by sticking to my routine. I was putting my swimsuit on for aquafit at the Y for I so love Monday mornings with Vera; she always has a new playlist to motivate us!

But, as I put my right leg into my suit, my husband called. His car had been broken into overnight. All the paperwork was a mess. We had just gotten back from my brother's funeral stateside, and then the crushing realization hit me. I said out loud:

“Oh, no... our passports were in the car. I was too tired to remember to take them in. Damn, damn, damn.”

I put my clothes back on, skipped class, and headed home to resolve the issues that come with losing a piece of your identity. I had raced down stateside, raced back, then got into power mode with the house, the kids, and work.

Perspective from a Frazzled Reiki Master

And yes Reiki Masters don't always get to relax! We, too, have things unfinished. We feel the "frazzle" just as much as anyone else.

In that moment of "too much," I had to stop and take a deep breath.

This is where the practice really matters. It’s not just for the quiet studio moments; it’s for when the car is a mess, the laundry is a mountain, and your heart is heavy from saying goodbye to a loved one. Reiki helps me put things back into perspective. It reminds me that I don't have to be "finished" to be okay.

Not everything will be resolved today. The laundry might stay in the pile, and the inbox might stay full for another few hours while I deal with the passports. And that has to be enough.

Take a deep breath with me. It’s okay if it’s not all done yet.
