I Love Fearlessly - The Heart Chakra

"I have the courage to love unconditionally"

The chakras’ have a relationship with our physical body as well as a relationship with our emotional and psychological selves. The Anahata is the “I love” chakra.

What does the Heart Chakra govern?

The fourth chakra governs our love of self and others. It showcases our senses of trust, fearlessness, generosity, connectedness and gratitude. It supports our transformation with healthy boundaries, relationship depth and our emotional control. At it’s broadest definition, the Heart Chakra is Love – love of self and love of others.

When this chakra is blocked or out of balance, it is not uncommon to feel heartbreak. One might feel lonely, unhappy, easily hurt or unable to receive love and insecure. When in a state of imbalance, one chooses to lead with the head and not with the heart. This leadership causes a distance to grow with others and puts walls up where one shuts down emotionally becoming resentful and/or bitter.

The expressions “Leave me alone.” “I resent the day you were born.” “I hate my ex with a passion.” come from one who experiences a blocked Heart Chakra.

On a physical level a blocked or imbalanced Heart Chakra may have the individual experiencing difficulties relating well to others.
On an emotional level a blockage or imbalance may cause an individual to withdraw experiencing excessive jealousy and possessiveness of another. Many individuals remove themselves from day-to-day activities and have difficulty relating or getting close to another. Conversation and/or connectedness with the outside world can cease altogether.

Although one might expect the colour of the chakra to be pink or red such as that found in a Valentine’s Day heart, the chakra colour is green. Green is the colour of healing, balance and good health. Green speaks to our desire to foster understanding and acceptance between generations, the world and to recognize and verify the innate goodness of each person. We are the world!

Healing the Heart Chakra

Many of us experience energetic imbalances and blocks. These imbalances and energy blocks prevent us from leading a healthy and productive life,

The way of the Heart Chakra is to live life with love at your energy centers.
Over the course of our lives we experience many heart traumas. The heart chakra is particularly vulnerable to disturbances associated with relationships and love. We all have a history of relationships from the moment we’re conceived, born out of the womb to now. During our history, we experience many events to love and opportunities for that love to flourish or fail.

We love our family pet with an intense unconditional love to suffer loss. We mistake lust for love. Our partner cheats on us. Our partner dies and our heart grieves the loss as intense as a flame burns in the black night. We love our organizations and they abuse our trust. We love our earth and she is dying before our eyes. Our love ebbs and flows and our Heart Chakra is exposed.

Often the heart shuts to the possibility of opening to be hurt yet another time. We are vulnerable when we open our hearts to another positive or negative experience. We often are critical of ourselves and seek isolation to protect the heart. Or, we may become over demanding of others. The loss of love or rejection has made us a victim and we suffer.

A Course in Miracles tell us there is simply love and the Heart Chakra opens up to this concept. However, baby steps are necessary to come to the acceptance and understanding of universal love when one is traumatized and the Heart Chakra blocked from love.

Gary Chapman wrote a book on love languages. He believed there were five love languages to support growth and happiness and to help us express and receive love. The five are Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time and Physical Touch. Reiki energy healing works to open the Heart Chakra to allow your understanding of your own personal heart language whether it be as Gary describes or a language all your own.
