HAMRO VILLAGE SHINES AT TORONTO GIFT + HOME MARKET

I met up with Ash Upadhyay at the Toronto Gift + Home Market last week.  #TOGiftMarket

Ash is one of those kind souls who can look in to your eyes and caress your soul with such gentleness that you know you’ve found a kindred spirit.  His passion for his people and their well-being shines the moment he starts to showcase Hamro Village products.  And, what gorgeous products they are from jewelry to slippers. The scarves are my favourite. The colours are so vibrant that they provide an experience for the senses. All seven colours of the Chakras on one creation provided for an AHA moment of bliss. Yes, a colourful scarf can do that for me! You?!

Born and raised in Nepal, Ash learned from a young age that we are one and we work to share with each other our good fortune. Now living in Toronto, Ash and partner have founded a beautiful fair trade handmade shopping experience.

“I’m passionate about fair trade and handcrafted products and dedicated to supporting artisans in Nepal,” said Ash.

At Hamro Village, the sale of artisan’s craftsmanship provides many villagers with income to feed their families and send their children to school. Their design team works directly with artisans on the ground using sustainable materials while preserving traditional skills.

The 608 Fleet Street store is now closed but all products are available online. Shop to improve not only your life but the lives of Ash’s artisans in Nepal.

We are one.
