Parents, your support is crucial during this stressful time. During my first university year exams, I was most thankful for Gramma's chocolate chip cookie drop off at residence. It brought an opportunity for a brief outside connection to take a break and helped not only myself but my dorm floor take a sweet break.
If your students are living at home, provide a calm and supportive environment for studying. Respect their choice of area to study whether it be in the family room, their own room or library. Remind your student to take breaks and practice self-care. Remember, a relaxed and focused mind is key to exam success. And, this includes support of the family pets who can be an amazing support but can also add to the noise level - consider walking them more often and get them out of the house to keep the noise level at a minimum if they are prone to bark at every squirrel that runs by their viewing window.
