Thanksgiving Gratitude Playlist

Canadian Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I'm excited to share a special section on gratitude. Often during a Reiki session, I hear music beyond the soft background tunes. The lyrics often speak directly to the individual I'm working on, delivering profound messages of healing.

So, let’s create a Thankful Turkey Playlist! I’ll start with my top ten songs, and I invite you to add your favorites. Then, I’ll compile our combined tunes into a playlist on Spotify. Sound good?

May you enjoy the Fall season, feeling comforted and warmed with gratitude. Thanks for being here.

Top Ten Gratitude Songs

  1. “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong
This is my hubby’s favorite song. It’s a classic that reminds us of the beauty around us and to be forever thankful for the little things in life.

  2. “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone
I have Benson’s 2024 VMA performance saved on my computer and call it up for a smile often. Have you seen him do a backflip off the grand piano while singing about his vulnerability? This song captures the essence of gratitude and appreciation for life’s blessings, reminding us how quickly we could lose them.

  3. “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves
This has been a top ten on my happy playlist since my daughter was born. It’s our song, and listening to it makes you feel good and grateful to be alive, with the ability to bop your head to the beat!

  4. “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons
This song makes you feel like you can conquer anything. I am grateful for Dan Reynolds and the band’s talent. This song is a reminder to share your gratitude right NOW before it’s too late.

  5. “Grateful” by Rita Ora
This song has to be on the list because, well, it’s Rita Ora! She brings a modern take on the feeling of thankfulness in today’s world. We need to be grateful for the storm, for then we see the sun.

  6. “Blessed” by Elton John
Elton’s writing partner Bernie Taupin reflects the longing and dreams of a future parent for their child with poignant lyrics. Interestingly, years after the song was released, Elton and his partner from our neighborhood, David Furnish, became parents. I am sure they sing this to their blessings!

  7. “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” by Bing Crosby
Released on New Year’s Day 1954, Irving Berlin wrote this song for one of my favorite Christmas movies, White Christmas. This should be in every new Mama’s slumber playlist!

  8. “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts
A touching song about wishing the best for others, with sweet harmony that your days come easy! Keep on walking until you find the window! If it’s cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile!

  9. “Good Life” by OneRepublic
Celebrates the good moments in life with a rocking drum line. Ryan Tedder, the lead vocalist, has a distinctive voice and heartfelt delivery that makes this song uplifting. “Ooh, it’s gonna be a good life!”

  10. “Happy” by Pharrell Williams
From Despicable Me 2, this upbeat tune can make anyone feel grateful and joyful. You will indeed clap along because you feel happiness is a truth!
